The First Batch of Construction Units for the Sub-centers of China Center for Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine Officially Signed Agreements
On the morning of December 4, 2024, the Forum for Research and Evidence in Traditional Medicine was held as part of 2024 World Conference on Traditional Medicine at the National Convention Center. During the event, the first batch of construction units for the sub-centers of the China Center for Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCEBTCM) officially signed their agreements. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr KIM Sungchol, Head of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Unit, Integrated Health Services, WHO, Professor Gordon Henry Guyatt, founder of evidence-based medicine and Academician of the Royal Society of Canada from McMaster University, Professor Will Moy, Chief Operating Officer of the Campbell Collaboration, Professor Huang Luqi, President of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. Mr. Yan Huaguo, Deputy Director of the Medical Administration Department of the National Administration of TCM, along with other renowned domestic and international experts, also attended the meeting.
To better promote the development of evidence-based traditional medicine, the CCEBTCM initiated the establishment of a network of sub-centers focused on hospitals. By leveraging the research resources of the CCEBTCM and the clinical practice advantages of its sub-centers, the goal is to jointly build an efficient, coordinated, and innovative research network.
The first batch of construction units for the sub-centers of the CCEBTCM includes six institutions: Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital, Capital Medical University; First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; School of Chinese Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The heads of the relevant construction units, including Vice President Yang Hongjun (China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences), President Shang Hongcai (Dongfang Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine), Executive Vice President Liu Baoli (Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital, Capital Medical University), Party Secretary Zhang Yanjun (First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine), President Chen Xinlin (Longhua Hospital, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine), President Wang Haifeng (First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine), and President Lin Zhixiu (School of Chinese Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong), took the stage to jointly sign the cooperation agreement.

In the future, the sub-centers will focus on various aspects such as “evidence generation, evidence translation, evidence application, data management and sharing, clinical trial registration platform management, and the development of evidence-based talent teams”. They will work together to comprehensively enhance the research and application capabilities of evidence-based TCM, promote the generation and clinical translation of high-quality evidence, advance the application of TCM in the health field, and strengthen its global influence and service capacity.
